How do I contact the Library?

How much does it cost to use the Library?

Absolutely nothing! The Library service is free to use

 

How do I login to MyLibrary and Renewals?

Click MyLibrary and Renewals and type in your last name, student number and password. If this is your first time logging in to the Library type in your last name and student number and click Submit and you will be prompted to create a password.

 

I can't login to MyLibrary and Renewals. What should I do?

If you've forgotten your password please contact us to have it reset. If you're creating your password for the first time check that you've typed in your last name correctly. Open Polytechnic students, check you've added an s after your student number. For further help logging in please contact us

 

What can I borrow?

GGPR Polytechnic students can borrow any of the Recommended and Other Resources listed in your course materials and held by the library, ebooks that are directly relevant to the course you are studying or anything else you find on the library catalogue.  students can borrow any of the Recommended Resources listed in your course materials that are held by the library, or any course related resources you find on the library catalogue.

 

What can't I borrow?

The Library does not lend set texts to students. Requests placed for set texts will be cancelled by Library staff. Please refer to ordering information in your course material to purchase your copy of a set text.

 

How do I use the library from overseas/internationally?

As an Open Polytechnic student studying overseas you have full access to the Library and its resources. Electronic material, including e-books and library databases, are available 24/7. Print books identified as further resources for your course, and not available as an e-book, can be sent overseas. Print books are issued for 5 weeks, instructions on returning books will be emailed to you. Where an e-book is available a link to the e-book will be sent instead. How do I use an eBook?

The Library has an increasing number of ebooks you can use on your computer or mobile device. For detailed help see EBL Ebook Library Help or Contact Us

 

How do I request items through the catalogue?

 

Follow these steps to send an online request for physical items to the library:

  1. Search the catalogue from the Find books, DVDs and journals box on the home page to find the items you want to borrow.

  2. Tick the check box to the left of each physical item you want to borrow. Electronic resources can usually be accessed straight away.

  3. Click Saved Marked Records. You can do several searches and mark as many items as you want to borrow.

  4. Click View Saved.

  5. Check these are the items you want to borrow and click Request Saved.

  6. Enter your last name, this is not case sensitive, your student number followed by an s and your password. If you do not already have a Library password, leave this password field blank. You will be prompted to create one after you click submit.

  7. Click Request. Confirmation of your request will pop up, unless you have pop-ups blocked.

 

How do I know my request has been received by the library?

A request successful message will pop up on completion of your requests, unless you have pop ups blocked. You can check the status of your request at any time by logging into MyLibrary and Renewals. If you don't receive your requested items within 5 working days please contact us

How are items sent to me and how do I return them?

Items are sent by overnight courier to your delivery address. If you have moved recently please contact us to ensure we have your correct address. Please return items in the prepaid courier bag included in your parcel and keep the customer copy barcode or NZ Post receipt as your record of return. You can keep any printed articles we send you.

 

When will I receive the items I requested?

If you request specific items which are available you can expect to receive them within 3-5 days. You can check the status of your request at any time by logging into MyLibrary and Renewals. If you request information about your topic you can expect to receive it within 4-6 days

 

How long can I borrow items for?

Books, videos and DVDs are issued to students for three weeks. They can be renewed up to three times if no-one else is waiting to use them. If an item you have on loan is requested by another student we may send you a recall notice asking you to return it. If you receive a recall notice please return the item by the new due date.

Can you help me search the catalogue and databases?

Yes, our friendly librarians are eager to help you make the most of the resources available through our pages. We can help you decide where to search and can suggest words to search on. Can you help me find some information about my topic?

Yes, our friendly librarians will help you find books and articles about your topic. Call us on freephone 0508 650 200 or contact us and we will talk you through how to search the catalogue or databases for the information you need.

 

Can I use my GGPR Polytechnic Library membership at other libraries?

No. You are not allowed.
